Lyndee & Angus | Chicago Engagement

Lyndee & Angus were introduced to me by my very good friends Heather & Mike. They are friends that met at their church Trinity Lutheran Church which is also where I met Lyndee & Angus for our wedding consultation. What a fun couple. Lyndee is from Houston, so she has a bit of a Texas twang while Angus is from Scotland, who also has a bit of an accent. I could sit and listen to them talk all day!

Angus ran the Chicago Marathon this past October. When they returned to their hotel at The Palmer House Hilton, he proposed to Lyndee where she gladly accepted. They wanted to make sure to get some engagement pictures there, so downtown we went! It was a chilly day but you certainly can’t tell, they were such troopers and I was pretty impressed.

Here are some photos of their session that day, you can just feel the love these two have for each other. Enjoy!

My Family | Chicago Portrait Session

My nieces and nephews have such a huge impact on why I decided to pick up a camera 6 years ago. Having them to practice on was definitely beneficial to my growth as a photographer. My youngest niece, Ariela, was only 2 when I first started. At first she was a willing participant, however “Titi” (which is what she calls me) started to get a bit annoying…I’m sure she felt like I was paparazzi! Their willingness/unwillingness to be in front of a camera helped me learn how to shoot in those types of situations as there are many children of all ages that aren’t so comfortable in front of a camera.

After years of photographing them, I am so proud of how easy they were during our shoot last weekend. They needed minor direction and we had a ton of fun. I wanted to get some photos of them to prepare for my Mother’s day present for my mom. Here are a few photos from their session that day. Enjoy!

Ella | 6 Months Old

Filed under: Chicago — Maricel @ 8:38 pm

So, fast forward a few months and here is Ella’s 6 month session. Well, I’ll admit it wasn’t really a formal session. I was visiting with her and her mom and wanted to take some photos of her. How could you not?! I have been in love with her since birth, but unfortunately I don’t get to see her that often as our schedules don’t really mesh very well! I did ask Anne (Ella’s mom) to make sure Ella was ready for some pictures. If you think she’s beautiful in these photos, I wish you could meet her. She’s the sweetest thing ever! Here are some images from her quick session.

Sue & Tim | Loyola University Wedding

Congratulations to my very good friend Sue and her new husband, Tim! Sue was probably the most relaxed bride I’ve ever worked with. Maybe after knowing her for over 20 years (YIKES!) I just thought she would be a bit more…well not Bridezilla, but antsy. I was probably more antsy than her, making sure we were on schedule. I look at my watch at least 10 times an hour, constantly providing a time check when we it is starting to look like we are running late.

We started the day at the Kim Sun Young salon in Niles where they did an amazing job on her hair and makeup. Sue looked absolutely stunning and was certainly glowing, that was just hair and makeup. Afterwards we headed to Loyola Campus to get ready for some photos and the ceremony. Tim looked handsome in his tuxedo, these two are a good looking couple! After a short ceremony, which ended with a bagpiper, we used the campus as a backdrop for their portraits. Their reception was held at Chateau Ritz in Niles, tastefully decorated in pink, along with the cutest cake topper I’ve ever seen, a Hello Kitty Lladro figurine.

Sue & Tim, thank you for letting me capture your day!

Blair & Shanti | Navy Pier Engagement

Blair & Shanti was a referral from an old co-worker of mine, Sharon, owner of Simple Perfect Peace Events. Thanks Sharon! After booking their August wedding, we scheduled their engagement session on a pretty chilly April day. They were brave enough to withstand the chilly lakefront wind, but I think it was certainly worth it! We decided to go to Navy Pier which allowed us to get the feeling back in our limbs from freezing our butts off. I cannot wait to photograph their wedding! They were so much fun to work with, they have such a wonderful connection and the camera absolutely loves them.

Congratulations Blair & Shanti on your engagement! Here are just a few samples from their session.
