Douglas Park | The Perez Family

Filed under: Portraits — Maricel @ 4:14 pm

I’ve known Arleen for about 15 years now, met her at my best friend’s family parties. When my photography endeavors began she was always complimenting my work. I’ve deemed her to be one of my biggest fans and I am certainly grateful for her support. Last year she asked me to photograph her sister’s Graduation portraits from UIC College of Pharmacy and this year she referred me to a couple for their wedding photos. As a token of my appreciation, I asked her if she would like a quick mini session with her family.

We met on a hot sunny day (when wasn’t it hot this summer?) at Douglas Park on South Sacramento in Chicago. This structure is such a fun place to photograph, the shadows created by the columns creates so much interest and the light was amazing. Thanks Arleen and Eddie for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family!

Rewind: First Half of 2010

Before diving into a normal post for the new blog, I thought I’d provide a quick recap of the first half of the year. It’s been quite an awesome year and I’ve had so much fun with all my shoots, portraits and weddings. So let’s start with my first family session of the year!

I had the pleasure of attending WPPI this year which was held in Las Vegas. I actually try to make it out there pretty often to visit a great friend of my, Laurel. She gathered up her family and we headed to Red Rock for some family portraits. Here are just a few samples.

So, I was a busy girl that day. Nikki and Neil joined me for an engagement session right after Laurel’s! It was a cold day but Nikki and Neil were DETERMINED to take these photos and I don’t know about you, but I surely think they were worth it! Thanks to Laurel, who escorted me into the rocks…I was very very scared!

Since it started raining I asked Nikki and Neil to hook up with me later again that week. With the help of Marlo & Erwin we got some fun shots off the strip.

The visit to WPPI was an awesome experience and was able to take so much away from it. With that experience I was getting pumped to shoot Kristin and Adam’s wedding. But before I could go there, we had their engagement session in downtown Oak Park.

…and then their wedding in April.

My niece Stephanie and her fiancĂ© Drex came to visit us from Ohio. I asked her to pack up something cute for an engagement session. This was so much fun! I love night photos and beautiful subjects! I will be photographing their wedding next weekend…I can’t wait!

Then in May I shot another wonderful wedding for Gladys and Juan (Divoc).

In May, again, I had the opportunity to shoot Senior Portraits for Charlie.

Finally, to end the first half of 2010, I shot these two bundles of joy…twins! Kevin and Bella…cutie patooties!

What a great way to start my year!
