Curtis Family | Cantigny Park Family Session

I went to school for Interior Design at Illinois Institute of Art and did my internship at an architectural firm for 2 years. This is where I met Heather and became instant friends. Daily lunches and breaks allowed us to get to know each other pretty well, so well she asked me to stand in her wedding! They now have 3 beautiful children. When they asked me to do their family session I couldn’t wait, these kids have such fun personalities. We had such a beautiful fall day (it was warm in November) and the sun was perfect.

Here are some sample from their fun session at Cantigny Park.

Caleb & Abby | Dallas Arboretum Session

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 6:30 pm

What can I say about these two kiddos? A couple of years ago I photographed Abby at the Dallas Arboretum when she was about a year old. This time it was her brother’s turn. Caleb is quite a happy boy, I love his spirit! I was able to spend a little time with them last year due to my traveling to Texas for work. Abby’s sweet smile and Caleb’s big blue eyes, I surely miss them!

The Dallas Arboretum is such a beautiful place, if you’re ever in Dallas be sure to visit. We took these in November so all the fall decorations were still up so we were able to take advantage of the pumpkin patch. Here are a few samples of their portrait session.

Luke & Emma | Hoover Dam

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 1:24 pm

I always look forward to my Las Vegas trips, mostly because I get to spend some time with these two awesome kids! Their mom Laurel and I met at design school (ILIA) and have been great friends ever since. For as often as I’ve been to Vegas, I’ve never made it to Hoover Dam. Why I chose to do this at 106 degree weather, I guess there’s no time like the present?

It was definitely a hot day, Luke & Emma were troopers and still smiled for me! Here are a few photos from their session that day.

Luke & Emma | Happy Birthday!!!

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 11:08 pm

These little-big guys are turning 5 in a few days and I can’t believe how big they are now! This past February I went to Las Vegas to attend the WPPI Conference. While I was out there, I decided to go there early to visit my friend Laurel, Luke & Emma’s mom. Laurel and I met at the Art Institute of Illinois while getting our Interior Design degree and became fast friends. She left me (yes, left me) and moved to Vegas where she knew I would be more than happy to visit!

Luke & Emma were a bit under the weather this day but you can’t tell! Here are a few samples of my session with them that day. Happy Birthday Luke & Emma, can’t wait to see you again next year!

Abby | Dallas Arboretum

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 9:31 pm

In January I decided to visit my very dear friend Cheryl who lives in Texas. It had been a long time since we’d seen each other and since she had Abby, traveling to Chicago was not something they planned on doing anytime soon. So thanks to an awesome deal with Southwest I took the opportunity to visit Cheryl and Aaron, and FINALLY meet their almost one year old baby girl, Abigail.

I was so excited to see them! Of course I had an ulterior motive for the visit, I had every intention to photograph this beautiful baby girl! Abby was the sweetest baby with such beautiful blue eyes and a red nose! First we took a few photos of her playing at home, then we managed to have a nice day and took some photos at the Dallas Arboretum. Here are just a few photos from that visit.

Cheryl, can’t wait for you guys to visit us in Chicago (hint, hint)!

Mommy and Daddy’s favorite action photo so I had to post!
