Josue | Twelve Days Old

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 10:12 pm

Happy and Edwin were my very first clients, they hired me to photograph their 4 month old son, Caleb who is now 2 years old! They trusted me to photograph Caleb and am thankful for them. They recently had Josue who was born at 9 lbs. 14 oz. and asked me to photograph him when he was just 12 days old. What a beautiful baby boy! He was so alert and patient with me, he seems to have a knack for being in front of the camera. Congratulations Happy & Edwin, Josue is beautiful! Caleb will make an awesome big brother!

Here are some samples from Josue’s newborn session.

Caleb was feeling a little left out so he put on some glasses for me!

Hoosier Grove Barn | Emma & Nathan

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 9:25 pm

Emma and Nathan are the cutest! I grew up with their mom, Genni, who lived 5 houses down the street. They certainly remind me so much of their mom. Emma is a sweet little fashionista that recently turned 8 and Nathan is 3 with as much energy as two boys! He’s a ham with the cutest cheeks and dimple (yes, one domple…you’ll see)!

We went to Hoosier Grove Barn in Streamwood for their session. We were pretty lucky to have decent weather, it was mid-November and we had 65 degree weather. Here are a few of my faves from their session that day.

Starved Rock | Anthony – Almost Two

What can I say about this little guy? I mean, just look at that face! Anthony is my best friend Evelyn’s son. His photos do not do him justice….he’s got the funniest personality you can’t help but be mesmerized by him! When I first purchased my camera and started practicing portraits, he was one of my first subjects. Between my Nieces & Nephews, Delilah and him, I had plenty of models to photograph! It’s been a pleasure to pretty much document this little guy’s growth.

My brother and friends decided to visit Starved Rock for the first time, so I asked Evelyn if she wanted to take a drive out there and meet up with us. Wow, is this place amazing! Unfortunately, the recent heavy winds and lack of rain didn’t help the color of the leaves this year. No biggie, we still managed to enjoy the scenery, great company and weather. We walked a couple of trails and soaked in the scenery, it was breathtaking!

Here are a few photos from my session with Anthony that day.

Happy Birthday to ME | Delilah Turns Three

Filed under: Children — Maricel @ 9:48 pm

So, how cute is she? Delilah was one of my first models when I began my photography endeavors, she was about 7 months old when I purchased my camera. Some of my favorite photos are of this beautiful baby girl. Tomorrow she turns three and it’s been so wonderful watching her grow. Being best friend with her mom, she calls me “Tita Cel” and I love the excitement in her voice when I arrive! She’s got such a spunky personality that you can see in these photos. Delilah knows my camera all too well and knows when Tita Cel comes, she’s possibly taking pictures. How can I NOT take any? Look at that face!

Happy Birthday D and Tita Cel loves you!

These 3 photos were taken in the last couple of years

She’s so sassy! FYI, I did NOT ask her to pose for me, she knows this camera very well!I love this face but she was SO over it in this photo!

Humbolt Park Residence | Lucas & Jaelyn

One of my BFF’s (I feel like I have many!) referred me to Karen for family portraits. I met Karen a few years back at a party and recall how well we got along. When she contacted me to set up a session, I was naturally excited to see her again and meet her beautiful family.

The second I arrived, it was nothing but laughing; I felt like we were old friends! We started the session photographing her 2.5 month old baby boy, Lucas. What a doll! I believe he only cried once while I was there (and I was there a LONG TIME) and gave me some incredible smiles to capture. We gave Lucas a break since it looked like Jaelyn (4 years old) wanted some camera time too…but she needed to warm up to me a little bit. Tickling did the trick! At first mommy had her in pig tails, but when I saw the beautiful curls I asked if we could put her hair down. So glad I did! What a cutie patootie!

After a couple of fun hours of shooting, we hung out for a bit and got to know each other a little bit more. It was such a great time. Karen & Juan, thank you SO MUCH for allowing me to capture your beautiful family, it was a ton of fun and I hope you enjoy the photos. Here a few of my faves from the day!

Oh, and Karen, let me know when you’re ready for sushi!

Still a little shy, but I love it!

Warming up to me a little more……and finally got her to be silly with me!

I couldn’t choose just one photo from this series, so I’m showing my 3 faves

And finally Jaelyn was ready for a nap after this pic
